## About
⭐ A Personal Take on Patrick Cunningham & Sons (Galway) Limited: If you’re looking for a top-notch plumbing service, then Patrick Cunningham & Sons in Galway is the place to go. From start to finish, my experience with this company was nothing short of phenomenal. The team at Cunninghams are clearly dedicated professionals who take pride in delivering efficient and reliable repair services. What’s most impressive about them is their prompt response time, despite how busy they always seem. When I had an issue with my boiler and toilet, they wasted no time coming out to assess the problem – even on a cold rainy day! Not only that but the job was done thoroughly and efficiently so that everything was working correctly when they left. Another reason why I love going back here year after year is simply because of their polite workers. They make sure to respect your home and have always left it as clean if not cleaner than before. Daragh has been sorting me out over the years whenever I’ve needed work carried out. He genuinely knows his trade inside-out! Overall, in terms of quality service, value for money, punctuality and professionalism – Patrick Cunningham & Sons stands head-and-shoulders above its competitors. A truly fantastic company that deserves every bit of praise it receives!

## Before you hire a plumber
_What to check when choosing this kind of trade (general guidance, not a claim about this business):_
- Agree the call-out fee, the hourly or fixed rate, and whether parts are charged on top, in writing, before an emergency plumber starts. Out-of-hours overcharging and 'while I'm here' add-ons are common complaints.
- Be wary of a plumber who, on a first visit, says your whole system or boiler must be replaced. Get a second opinion and an itemised quote (parts and labour separately) before agreeing to major work.
- Gas and boiler work is a separate, regulated trade, not general plumbing. Make sure anyone working on a gas appliance is specifically registered to do gas work, and ask to see that registration before they start.
- In Ireland, gas work must by law be done by a Registered Gas Installer (RGI) and electrical work by a contractor registered with Safe Electric. Verify the registration on the public register before any gas or electrical job, as using an unregistered installer is illegal and dangerous.
- Agree an itemised written quote with staged payments tied to completed work rather than a large cash deposit up front, and confirm the tradesperson's public-liability insurance before they start.
