ok so my neighbour used a lad last year for her garage roof and honestly it was a disaster — two leaks by winter and he was impossible to get back 🙈 so when ours needed doing i was nervous. a friend in the neighbourhood group recommended Pat and i am SO glad she did! the guys were tidy, quick, and the roof looks deadly. price was fair — actually less than i expected for the quality. already posted photos to the group and had three people asking for the number ✨ only reason i'm not giving five stars is the start date got pushed out by nearly a week with not much communication, which stressed me out a bit. once they showed up though? absolutely no complaints. would absolutely use Barrow Valley again 🙌

It was Pat himself who turned up to quote, which I wasnt expecting at all, a damp enough Tuesday morning it was too, and he just had such a straightforward way about him, no rushing me, no hard sell, answered every question I had, even the ones I probably asked twice.

The reason I'm writing this is because my neighbour had a roofer out twice last year for the same leak and it still isn't sorted — cost her a fair amount each time and she's back to putting towels down when it rains heavily. I wanted to make sure whoever I hired actually knew what they were doing, so I asked around and Pat's name came up more than once. Had a section of flashing that had lifted around the chimney stack and some slipped slates at the rear of the house. Pat came out himself to have a look first, which I appreciated — no sending someone junior to quote and then someone else to do the work. He spotted a secondary issue with the ridge tiles that I hadn't even noticed, explained what needed doing without overcomplicating it, and the price he quoted was honest and reasonable. The lads who came to do the job were tidy, got on with it without any drama, and cleaned up properly before they left. No damp patches on the ceiling since, even through the wet spell we had in February. The contrast with what my neighbour went through couldn't be more stark.

Scheduling took a few extra days to get confirmed, which was a minor frustration. That aside — prompt on the day, tidy site, no fuss. Recommended.

The ridge tiles are sitting beautifully now, neat and solid, you wouldn't know anything had ever been amiss up there at all. Pat and his lads were up and done before I'd even had my second cup of tea that morning, anyway, that's the way you want it really, no fuss, no mess left behind. Valley roofing, I'd have no hesitation passing their number on to anyone.
