We'd been meaning to get this done for years, if I'm honest. The house itself is a solid enough place, a semi-detached out near Callan that we've had for the best part of two decades, and the gutters at the back had been giving grief since at least 2019, pulling away slightly from the fascia on one side, blocked solid on the other, and making an unholy racket every time there was heavy rain coming off the extension roof. We'd had two lads look at it over the years and neither of them followed through, so when my neighbour mentioned he'd used Barrow Valley Roofing and that Pat had sorted his ridge tiles no bother, I gave them a ring. Paddy came out, had a proper look at it, didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need, and told me straight what wanted doing. The lads who came to do the work were tidy about it, which I appreciated, no mess left behind, no standing about, just got on with it. The gutters are sitting flush now, draining exactly as they should, and the whole rear of the house looks a good bit neater than it did before, which my wife pointed out almost immediately. Would absolutely use them again and have already mentioned Pat's name to a cousin of mine who's got a farmhouse outside Thomastown that needs attention.

Got a quote from Pat in early September, he came out to the house within a few days of me ringing, had a look at the verge along the front and side of the roof, and gave me a written price there and then, which I thought was fair enough, certainly compared to a lad I had out a few years back for different work who quoted one thing and billed another, but that's a different story, I won't get into that, the point is Valley roofing were straightforward about the cost from the start, no messing, I knew what I was paying. They had me booked in for about three weeks after that, which suited me fine, gave me time to sort a few things on my end. The lads arrived on the day they said they would, which I'll be honest is not always the case with tradesmen in my experience, two of them up on the roof by half nine or thereabouts, they worked away through the day, had the old verge tiles off and the new ones bedded and pointed by late afternoon, tidy job, cleaned up after themselves before they left, no materials left lying around the garden or on the driveway, which the wife appreciated more than I probably did. That was that, done in the one day, no follow up issues.

What I wish to draw particular attention to is the manner in which Patrick conducted himself throughout this job. I have dealt with various tradespeople over the years and I hold punctuality in rather high regard. Pat arrived at the time stated, without the customary fifteen-minute drift one tends to accept as standard in this country. He subsequently rang to confirm the work was completed and that materials had been cleared from the site. My one observation would be that a written summary of the work carried out would have been a welcome addition. I would, nonetheless, recommend Barrow valley roofing without hesitation.

Obsessed with how this turned out!! 🏠 Pat and the lads put a brand new slate roof on our place last month and honestly it looks so clean, like the house got a whole new identity. The slates are perfectly even, the ridgeline is so sharp, and from the road it genuinely looks stunning. They worked away quietly for two days, left the site spotless each evening, and the whole thing was done before I even had time to stress about it. My neighbour literally stopped me on the road to ask who did it! The quality is just there, you can see it.
